Will They Be Re-Enacting This Debate on ABC?

Friday, April 18, 2008

Publius at Obsidian Wings has a different take on both the recent Democratic Presidential Primary Debates and the Lincoln-Douglas debates.
Thanks to Megan McArdle again for the pointer.

I’m Really Beginning to Like Megan McArdle

Wednesday, April 16, 2008

Megan McArdle had another spot on post today. She’s even more libertarian than I am (the majority of people with post-secondary degrees in economics usually are) and aside from what she’s implicating about getting the government out of our bedrooms and ending the war on drugs, she put my feelings into words perfectly.

Something New To Read

Friday, April 11, 2008

I’ve come across a new blog this evening that is quite riveting. It’s called Going Private, written by a woman who goes by the nom de plume of ‘Equity Private’. The about page and the very earliest posts in 2006 are excellently written and quite entertaining.

The Ministry of Truth at Work

Friday, April 11, 2008

I happened to notice on Wikipedia tonight that it’s article about the “bulge bracket” has completely removed any reference to Bear Stearns already.

Or maybe you’ll get the free Zune

Saturday, April 7, 2007

This is neat. Kelly at A Yoga Coffee Outlook is giving away a Zune MP3 player. See her post about it.
Even if you wouldn’t care for a free Zune, she’s pretty cute anyway so check it out for that reason then.

More From Dilbert and Scott Adams

Wednesday, March 21, 2007

I came across a very interesting and very funny post about persuading people (and improving your sex life) on The Dilbert Blog. The best quote from it is:

(In other words, we are moist robots.)

I found something new

Monday, March 19, 2007

Thanks to TechCrunch, I came across MyMilitaryClassifieds.Com. The site is nearly brand-new so they don’t have lots of ads yet but there’s a section just for Fort Riley ads.

Book Readers, Unite!

Saturday, January 20, 2007

I came across a new social-networking site today. It’s called Shelfari. Basically, you tell it all the books that are on your bookshelf, it compares that to other site users and you make friends. Pretty simple. I like it.

If I Could Cue A Heavenly Chorus, This Is When I Would Do It

Sunday, January 7, 2007

Like the headline intimates, I’ve found a celestial gift today via TechCrunch Forums. It’s called PartyGPS. It’s a mashup of Google Maps and a party directory. You can find clubs, bars, and liquor stores on the website and, since it’s a mashup with Google Maps, driving directions to all three. :-D Right now, there aren’t any listings for Iowa City or Manhattan, KS (but there’s a feature where you can add listings so let’s start adding those Ped Mall and Aggieville bars) but if you’re looking for clubs, bars, or liquor stores in some of the 18 bigger cities in the country (I say bigger because Hoboken and Syracuse are listed, WTF?) you’ve got an in now.

A Bit Of Housekeeping At The End of The Year

Sunday, December 31, 2006

Since it’s the last six hours of 2006, I’d like to take a moment to acknowledge and say thank you to the two blogs that linked to and mentioned me the most this year, the Johnson County Republicans blog and Dr Nicholas Johnson’s FromDC2Iowa. Thank you to JC Republicans Chair Todd Versteegh and everyone else at the JCR Blog and Dr Johnson for their links and mentions.
The Johnson County Republicans ought to be commended for being the thorn in the side of the Johnson County Democrats as the Democrats continue to try and consolidate their power into total domination of every facet of everything in Iowa City, Johnson County, and Eastern Iowa as a whole. They’ve been doing great work the past few years and hopefully in 2008 we can do even greater things. Keep up the good work.
Dr Johnson’s blog, FromDC2Iowa has been one of the most comprehensive, complete records of the whole imbroglio that has been the search for a new University of Iowa president. Dr Johnson’s commentary and news has been probably the best source of information about the presidential search both in the real world and in the blogosphere. Bully to Dr Johnson.

The Nail Was Right There And Man, Did She Wallop It Right On The Head

Thursday, July 6, 2006

Bridget Johnson has an excellent piece over on National Review Online. The best line from it is:

To put it differently, way too many people view Israel as satanic oppressors of the Palestinians, and way too few give a damn about the men, women, and children shot into mass graves under the regime of Saddam Hussein.

Whaddaya have to say to that?

A Few More Things To Add

Wednesday, July 5, 2006

1) The White Sox won again tonight. Like usual.

2) I discovered the editorial writers and columnists of the Daily Iowan have a blog of their own called DI Opinions. Like usual, I agree with next to nothing printed on the Opinion page of the DI or their blog but I thought I’d pass this along nonetheless.

3) Even though it may not exist (for much longer), I discovered RocketBoom today. It’s a video blog (vlog) hosted by Amanda Cogdon. Pretty hilarious stuff, last Friday’s was hysterical.
